FILM INSURANCE
Why Us
Stan Shkilnyi, (IMDB Resume) founder of Akker, LLC, brings a rare dual expertise to the insurance world—20+ years in the entertainment industry and 15 years in production insurance. He began his filmmaking journey at 16, creating documentaries showcased at NYC film festivals. A graduate of Savannah College of Art & Design with a degree in Film Producing, Stan went on to produce commercials for Coca-Cola and manage locations in Los Angeles, as well as perform stunt work in NYC.
He later launched a global film sales company, negotiating distribution deals at film markets worldwide. Negotiating deals at such markets as Cannes Film Festival, Hong Kong FilmArt, American Film Market, TIFF and more. This deep industry background shaped his unique approach to insurance: by filmmakers, for filmmakers.
Through Akker, LLC, (IMDB Resume) Stan is committed to making insurance fast, budget-conscious, and production-friendly. The company specializes in quick COI turnaround, tailored coverage consulting, and contract-driven insurance solutions that empower creatives to focus on their projects—not their paperwork.

FAQs
What insurance do I need for a film production?
1
Film productions need General Liability, Workers' Compensation, Equipment Coverage, and Props/Sets/Wardrobe at minimum — plus Errors & Omissions (E&O) insurance before any distributor, streaming platform, or sales agent will accept your film for release. Akker specializes exclusively in film and TV production insurance, with quotes in 24 hours and same-day COIs for productions from $1,000 short films to $25 million features nationwide.
What is film E&O insurance and when do I need it?
2
Film Errors & Omissions (E&O) insurance protects your production against claims of copyright infringement, unauthorized use of music, defamation, invasion of privacy, and title clearance issues — essentially any legal dispute arising from the content of your film itself. You need it before distribution: Netflix, Amazon, Apple, and virtually every distributor, sales agent, and foreign presale buyer will require a minimum of $1M/$3M in E&O coverage as a condition of signing your deal, so the time to get it is before you wrap post-production, not after you have a deal on the table.
What is the difference between a completion bond and cast insurance?
3
A completion bond is a guarantee to your investors and financiers that the film will be delivered on time and on budget — banks, presale buyers, and gap lenders require it before releasing a single dollar of financing. Cast insurance protects you, the producer, by covering the extra costs of reshoots, crew standby, and production delays when a key actor or director can't perform due to injury, illness, or death — and on a $400K indie film, a single 3-day shutdown without it can cost $25,000–$60,000 out of pocket.
How fast can I get a certificate of insurance for a film location?
4
Akker clients get direct access to a self-service COI portal where certificates of insurance are available to pull instantly — and once your policy is bound, your COI is live in the portal within 30 minutes. Most film locations, permit offices, and production companies require proof of insurance before handing over keys or signing contracts, so Akker's same-day binding and instant COI access means your shoot never gets delayed waiting on paperwork.
